The situation already appears to be rather paradoxical: For several years, Toyota drives in Formula 1 with missing, but a sporty flagship for the street. In 2005, the legendary Celica without replacement was taken from the program.

A special envelope
But now there is hope for all fans of Japanese sports. First Erlkönig photos show a strong disguised Subaru Impreza, which seems to be capped at the stern. Among the relatively staid cover of the new technology puts the coupe, which will probably begin in 2011 under the traditional name Celica. The reason for the truncated rear Impreza becomes clear when looking at the new Toyota for the Tokyo Motor Show, which opens the end of October 2009. There, a sports car study, called FT-86 is shown. The vehicle is 4.16 meters long and moves with a wheelbase of 2.57 meters. The Subaru Impreza other hand, is 4.41 meters long, so was cut off, the rear overhang of the Erl King.

Cooperation with Subaru
The Impreza-body is no accident: the construction of the sports car, Toyota is working with Subaru, it holds about nine per cent of the all-wheel specialists. It is therefore not surprising that reflects the 1.26 meter high FT-86 a two-liter boxer engine under the hood. However, the study is rear-wheel, particularly potent but could get four-wheel versions. In return, Subaru should get access to Toyota’s hybrid technology. Speaking of Hybrid: A similar version of the Celica future is almost certain
